Abstract
This paper reviews experiences of designers, implementers and marketers
of the Tug: an autonomous robotic delivery system. We enumerate challenges
involved
in the process of marketing autonomous systems and we illustrate their practical
implications using the evolution of the Tug design as an informative example.
A brief description of the technologies used in the components of the Tug system
is complemented with the discussion of the lessons learned in the process of
their
design, prototyping and deployment. We argue that autonomous robotic systems can
be perfectly marketable if sufficient attention is paid to the multifaceted
characteristics
of their target environments.
